Welcome
Welcome to Compass Point Church’s website, we're glad that you're here. We know that trying out a new church can be intimidating so we set up this page to give you a glimpse of what to expect when you visit us. Below you will find information about our church, our services, and other details you might find helpful. Please know that we will make every effort to ensure that your first experience at Compass Point is worry free.
Casual Cothes
We don't have a dress code, so feel free to wear jeans, shorts, flip flops or whatever you are comfortable in. God doesn't care about appearances so why should we?
Parking
As you drive down Sleepy Hill Road look for the large red and white flags marking the entrance to the YMCA. Once you park your car just follow the directional signs to the YMCA lobby entrance.
The Lobby
Once you walk through the front doors of the YMCA you’ll be met by friendly volunteers ready to serve you or answer any questions you might have. Clearly marked signs will help guide you to Kids Check In desk, the Information Center, the Compass Point Cafe or the worship area. Take a moment to grab a free cup of Starbucks coffee before your register your children for Compass Point Kids. Restrooms are available at the front of the lobby or behind the worship area.
Kids Check In
Leaving your children with a stranger can be tough, that is why we have made every effort to create a safe and comfortable environment for kids at Compass Point. Our best leaders and security personnel are helping with the children’s ministry so you can focus on having a great experience in the Sunday service. Our volunteers’ background checks have been cleared and they have been trained in risk management and safety procedures. When you register your child at the Kids CheckIn desk, you will receive a wristband with a number on it. Please do not loose the wristband as it will be the only way to pick up your child. Should we need your assistance, we will place your number on the video screen in the worship area so you can leave service.
Compass Point Kids
Every Sunday our leaders work hard to make Compass Point Kids a fun, exciting and interactive experience for children to learn about the Bible. We believe that children deserve our best so caring volunteers will make sure every kid feels welcomed and is connecting to other students. Our goal is to make Compass Point Kids the best sixty minutes of your child’s day! For more information about Compass Point Kids please click here.
Worship Area
Compass Point’s worship area is in the YMCA gymnasium, so feel free to bring your cup of coffee in and watch our video announcements for upcoming events. Sit wherever you feel comfortable and don’t worry about anyone making you stand up or say your name. You will be able remain anonymous until you decide not to be.
The Service
Every week at Compass Point we work hard to provide you with an exciting experience where you can connect with God. The band kicks off the service with a couple of pretty high-energy rockin’ songs that you will enjoy. Their passion for God is pretty contagious and the music is kind of loud. The words to the music and any Scripture used during the service will be on the video screens for you to follow. They’ll be some announcements, a video or two, sometimes a special guest and a few unexpected surprises. We promise you that a Sunday service at Compass Point is anything but boring.
The Sermon
Our Senior Pastor, Chris Elrod has a preaching style that is pretty easy to understand and to the point. He is passionate about how the Bible leads us into truth and always gives practical Biblical wisdom that can be applied to daily life. Pastor Chris used to be a nationally-touring comedian, so don’t be surprised if the sermon only last 30 minutes and has some really funny moments in it!
The Closing
Once Pastor Chris is finished with the sermon we receive offering while the band leads us in one or two more songs. While tithes and offering is an important part of how we worship at Compass Point, we promise that we won’t hassle you for money. By the way, the whole Sunday service only lasts one hour!
